The public and private sectors are pushing full steam ahead into a world dominated by mobile devices, and more and more of those devices will be owned by individuals and not an agency or company.

According to a new study from Gartner, 38 percent of companies expect to stop providing devices to workers by 2016 and half of companies will mandate BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) by 2017.

While the security experts hash out what that means for them, I’d like to zero in on what BYOD means to accessing and interacting with the vital data we all use to conduct business.

The mobile version of entellitrak, a dynamic enterprise case management solution, was developed using HTML5 because its lead architect, MicroPact CTO Mike Cerniglia, and his development team recognized the impending proliferation of mobile devices in all facets of government and business.

“There is no debate, mobile is not only here to stay, but it is a critical component for how we will interact with business, data and people going forward,” Mike says.

Because mobile business is becoming such an important tool in so many industries, it’s imperative that organizations invest in software solutions that are agile and can grow and change with their needs.

Vital data is being collected via mobile devices and that same information should be accessible in a mobile environment. A web-based solution based on HTML5 provides enterprises with the assurance that data is collected and shared in the most efficient way possible.

In order to achieve maximum interoperability, extensibility and portability across an enterprise, organizations need to seek out platforms based on open standards, open architecture and platform independence.

entellitrak was developed with these design principles and business goals in mind. The ever-increasing presence of mobile devices—smartphones, tablets and laptops—reminds us that we’ve built a platform that is always ready for whatever is next.
